      <text>&lt;p&gt;This is terminology to describe those drivers whose past underwriting experience makes it almost impossible for them to obtain standard or preferred rates of auto insurance.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Drivers with serious violations, i.e. D.U.I., numerous accidents, involved in a recent serious accident, or have made numerous claims, may be considered factors in making them &#8220;high risk driver&#8217;s&#8221;.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Those drivers that find themselves in the nonstandard market are, inexperienced drivers, drivers of high-powered sports cars, custom built cars, specialized cars and drivers that have lapsed in coverage.&lt;/p&gt;Insurance companies specializing in nonstandard auto insurance also attract drivers who are not nonstandard, on the basis that they offer a better deal than others.  A portion of the larger insurers own several nonstandard insurance companies themselves.&lt;/p&gt;   </text>
